01 March. 2016 – The Lebanese futsal championship final 8 is about to start, as the competition is expected to be the best in years! Indeed, 5 teams have added foreign players to their squads, which will raise the level of the games and make them more competitive!

On Wednesday March 2nd, the first game will take place, between last year’s champions Bank of Beirut and Achrafieh who proved to be a very tough opponent in their first division 1 season! But, BoB has added 2 high level Iranian players to the squad, in order to get back to winning ways as the team suffered a series of bad results towards the end of the regular season. Moreover, the team held an internal training camp at Rotana Hazmieh in the presence of all players who were taking part in morning and night practice sessions. Mahdi Javid and Ibrahimi are the 2 players who joined from Iran, as they came to replace Vladan Visic and Rodolfo Da Costa. Achrafieh meanwhile added another Brazilian, Celisinho who joined Rogerniho to help the team reach the semi finals! In the regular season, BoB defeated Achrafieh twice, 4-2 and 5-4.

On the other hand, Al Mayadeen signed their former Colombian star Angelot as they are looking forward to compete fiercely, especially that the orange team finished the regular season in first place! Al Mayadeen will take on 8th placed Choueifat on Thursday, but the technical director of last year’s runner ups is not very satisfied, as the team did not train well and normally since some players who came back from the national team were injured! The two confrontations in the regular season ended in favor of Mayadeen, 5-2 and 8-0.

The third game meanwhile will be between USJ and AUST on Friday at 8:30 P.M. USJ added 2 players from Colombia and AUST will rely on their Libyan players, so the matchup looks promising! In the regular season, USJ won a game 5-3 and AUST won the other 3-2.

Finally, the first week will end with a game between the Lebanese Army and Tripoli, with none of both adding any foreign player. The matchup looks favorable for the Army though, as they defeated Tripoli twice this season and ended up second in the futsal standings!
