21 March. 2016 – For the first time ever in her career, Ray Bassil managed to grab a gold medal at the first stage of the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Nicosia (Cyprus)!
The weather during the competition was windy, but it did not stop the Lebanese champion from grabbing her first world cup medal. First, Bassil qualified to the final stages by hitting a 68+1 in the four way shoot off at the end of the qualifying rounds, before hitting the target 14 times out of 15 in the semis.
In the final, her opponent was Sonja Scheibl from Germany, but Ray was able to overcome her and claim gold!
Great job by Bassil who did not only accomplish a personal achievement, but also made us all very proud!
