24 Mar. 2016 – The Lebanese Wushu Kung Fu Delegation came home with 19 medals which include 5 gold medals, 3 silver and 11 bronze! A great achievement for our talented Lebanese Fighters who raised our flag high in Portugal, at the International Martial Arts championship held in Caldas da Rainha.
The delegation included the general secretary of the federation Bassam NOHRA, the vice president Naoum SAADE and the director of the team Tony LTEIF and the players: Georges MOUAWAD, Elie RIZK, Christian ABDALLAH, Kevin ABI RAMIA, Said FAHED, Joseph HARB, Georges SAADE, Rabih AKIKI, Antoine DAHER, Ali AYYOUB from ISF and Luciana LAFFE.
70 countries with 4000 fighters took part in this championship. Our Lebanese team participated in four different styles: Taolu, Sanda, Kinda and K1.
The Lebanese team showed a high level of technicity in fighting which grabbed the attention of the president of Martial Arts Bruno REBLU, who congratulated the Lebanese fighters for their fighting spirit and their technicity.
Georges SAADE was able to win the golden belt in K1. Georges MOUAWAD was able to win a Silver and a bronze medal, Luciana LAFFE grabbed two Gold medals, one silver and one bronze all by herself! Georges SAADE also won two gold medal! Kevin ABI RAMIA won two bronze, Carlos IBRAHIM won one Silver medal.
Elie RIZK, Jimi JAMIL, Christian ABDALLAH and Rabih AKIKI won one bronze each. Antoine DAHER won one silver and Ali AYOUB won one gild and two bronze medals! An amazing performance by the Lebanese fighters who made us very proud!
Alongside this huge achievement, Lebanon was nominated to host the 2016 and 2017 Asian Open Martial Arts Championship after a very successful first edition of the Mediterranean championship.
