20 Aug. 2015 – One of the best Lebanese judo fighters, Elias Haddad, was participating in the Judo world championships Cadets & Teams taking place in Sarajevo (Bosnia).

Unfortunately, despite putting up a great fight, Elias (-66 KG) got knocked out in the 2nd round in golden score, after the fight ended in a draw. His opponent managed to get a point in the golden score, thus scoring victory.

Following the competition, Elias told us about his experience at the championship. First, he made it clear that the difference between Lebanon and other national teams was large, as the others were more prepared and went through many stages before participating in the world championships. According to Haddad, the difference was obvious in the golden score, where experience played a major role.

For next time, Elias wants more preparation and more seriousness in training sessions, as well as more exposure outside Lebanon against other teams.

On the other hand, 2 Lebanese fighters were also present, Arti Kassardjian (-60 KG) and Christopher El Khoury (-73 KG). Both lost though, Arti losing by submission against an Italian who happens to be a European cup champion, and Christopher losing against a Russian player who ended the fight with a submission move.

Despite the results, the experience is what matters to those Lebanese fighters, who learned a valuable lesson at the world championship that is going to help them in the future!
