2nd Bankmed Youth Race – Elite Runners expected to shine!

09 Apr. 2016 – The second edition of the Youth race is happening tomorrow morning! Stay tuned for our live coverage!

We just want to focus on the elite runners who are running tomorrow. Unfortunately Champville club is not taking part in this edition, but we have a large number of participants this year!

The challenge for medals will be between the two clubs Jamhour and Phoenicia Tyr. Both clubs have a large number of athletes competing in different categories. Another challenge will be between two schools. ambled Jnoubieh and Khraybet Al Jundi!

In the younger category, the 7 to 9 years old, Yara Rizk is expected to win the race but she will be competing with Mira Chalhoub and Zainab Farhoud from Amlieh Jnoubieh as well. In the same age group, the boys who are competing for the gold medal are Bilal Norman and Ahmad El Moure from Khraybet Al Jundi School and Mohamad Chouaib.

We expect Jamhour athletes to dominate the younger categories and Phoenicia to dominate the 5k. Farah Tayyar is expected to win the 2k in the girls 12-13 category. She set a new record in 400m two weeks ago but she is also very strong in endurance! She will compete with the 2015 champion Claudi Zmokhol and Michele Bou Eid who finished 3rd last year!

In the 2km boys (12-13), the challenge will be between Loufti Toni and Kevin Aoun from Jamhour and Hussein Sawly from Amlieh Jnoubieh.

In the 5km (14-15) category, Lynne Daccach from Jamhour is a strong competitor for the gold medal, while in the men’s its Wajih Georges Tayyar, Farah’s brother, who will compete with Yaghi Hamza and Bilal Al Ahmad from Manar!

In the 5k, Mountaser Hamiye is expected to shine among the Lebanese men, and Ghiya Mtayrek in the women’s! They are both from Phoenicia Tyr and are taking part at the Juniors West asian Championship in athletics next week!

We just wish them all the best and to enjoy the race day!
