26 Apr. 2016 – Kathia RACHED is leaving tomorrow to take part in the Namibia Ultra Marathon 250km. After finishing third in the Gobi March China 2015 Ultra marathon, this will be her next challenge.
This time, Kathia is running for “Heart Beat” Association. Supported by the Lebanese Athletics Federation, the Lebanese University, Sages High School Ain Saade, Hi-Tec Fitness and Sports Experts, she has all what it takes to complete the 250km again!
The NambiaUltra Marathon is on 7 days where the runner holds his or her backpack which contains his or her needs. The runners can’t exchange their needs during the race which will give them a penalty of additional minutes to their overall time.
They can only take water from the organizers. The weather is very hot during the day and very cold at night which is one one the main obstacles for the runners.
In the first four days, the runner has to complete 40km a day. On the fifth day, the runners will have to complete 80km while in the 6th and last day, they will only have to run 10km.
All the details of the challenge has been revealed at the Press conference held in the presence of the Minister of sports and Education on Monday 25th April.
