26 Apr. 2016- Al Ahed made it to the round of 16 by dominating the AFC Cup group A with 12 points. The Lebanese club defeated Altyn Asyr FC (2nd of the group) 3-0 today in Saida.
Al Ahed’s captain Abbas ATWI scored the opening goal for his team in minute 28, Hassan CHAITO made it 2-0 for the Lebanese in minute 36 and the defender Nour MANSOUR extended the lead to 3-0 right before the halftime whistle.
Unfortunately, Tripoli failed to match up with Group B teams and lost against Nafit Al Wasat 1-3. Tripoli lost hope of reaching the tournament’s round of 16.
