23 Jul. 2016 – Most of us, Lebanese, always say that we don’t have hope for sports in Lebanon. We always complain about not having the support of the government or the federations. But some people like Gaby ISSA-EL-KHOURY and much more think other wise. They have hope!
Gaby, with the support of ALBA (Academie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts), published his first book about athletics prior to the Olympic Games that will be held in Brazil: “Rio 2016 – Best Lebanese Athletes 2012-2015”.
As a former long jumper who took part in the Olympic Games back in 1982, Gaby’s passion and love for this sport was growing stronger even after he retired from athletics. The PHD architect started back in 2007 a website called Athletics Performance, where he published all the results of the athletes and Lebanese records with the support of an amazing team which includes Patrick FRAJALLAH and Laura SALIBA.
His book highlight the top performances achieved during the 4 years prior between 2012 and 2015 by the top athletes in each discipline in Athletics. Every chapter starts with a general introduction about the event and a more specific introduction about the state of the event in our country.
There is also a section where he highlights with pictures, the Olympic participation of the Track and Field athletes in the Olympic Games starting in 1960!
The book is available at ALBA Sin El Fil (Saloume), until the end of July. Price: 20,000LL
Check out below what he had to say after the book signing that was held at the ALBA:
Gaby should be an example to all those who have lost hope. We should stop complaining and start acting, even by doing small things, it will have a big impact on sports in general in our country, just like the butterfly effect!
