27 Jul. 2016– According to ESPN.com, the IOC have decided not to completely ban Russia from this summer’s 2016 Rio Olympics. The request from WADA and several other anti-doping agencies for Russia to be banned from the competition came after allegations about a doping scheme came to light.

However, Russian athletes with prior failed drug tests have in fact been banned from this summer’s Olympics. Russia has already been banned from the track and field competition.

Those who will be allowed to compete this summer must meet the requirements set by the other international federations as stated by the IOC. One they do so, the IOC said they will go through an out-of-competition testing program. If an athlete fails to complete one any of these drug tests, they will lose accreditation given to them by the IOC, per ESPN.com.
