26 Jul. 2016 – Paralympic Sports are most of the time, in the world and in Lebanon in particular, kept in the dark. We, as Sports 961, who are trying to put the light on most of the sports in Lebanon especially those that the majority of the media are not covering, decided to raise awareness for Paralympic Sports.
We are organizing on Saturday, July 30, the first edition of Goal Ball! In other words, it is football for the blind! Sport is indeed for everyone, throughout this event we want to promote sports for all and more importantly the mix events.
In school in general, people with disabilities are kept on the side, they don’t have the chance to take part in sports like the rest of the students. To mix able and disable people together through sports will help in the inclusion of those people and encourage them to not only take part in a game but also in society.
In this event that will be held in the Lebanese School for the deaf and the hearing impaired that is located in Baabda, 8 teams will take part in the tournament as well as our Paralympic Goal Ball team! The Tournament is a knock out system that will kick off at 10:00 AM this Saturday!
