29 Aug. 2016 – Our National fencing team is heading to Amman, Jordan, to take part in the Arab Fencing Championship for the categories going from 9 to 20 years of age.
Armed with confidence and three different kind of swords, the Lebanese delegation expects to shine during this championship especially that they are used to grab a lot of medals in the Arab region!
Therefore, 22 fencers are representing Lebanon during this major event: Thea Abou Araj, Tatiana Fernini, Marie-Joe Abou Jaoude, Nay Salame, Laure El Masri, Hadi Daccache, Samir Allam, Moustafa El Hajj, Elias Jalbout, Anthony-Joe El Khoury, Matheo Ajjaka, Tarek Daccache, Jowey Daou, Mario Chehwan, Jason El Khoury, Antoine Oneisi, Georgio Daou, Peter Ibrahim, Marc El Rahi, Anthony Choueiri, Mike Barcha and finally, Arz Zahreddine who, despite having a prothesis, is competing with the able athletes.
The team is accompanied by the coaches Sahil Saad, who is also the vice present of the Lebanese Fencing Federation, Ziad Jalbout, Bahij Chranak, Ziad Abou Araj and Mahmoud Ali Ahmad. The delegation also includes the Asian certified referee Ziad Jalbout.
The chef de mission is Ziad About Araj for the 11, 13 and 15 years category, while the president of the federation Ziad Choueiri, is the chef de mission of the 17 and 20 years category.
Finally, we should note that Mont La Salle club organized a special ceremony for the fencers, who all represent the club except for Mustafa El Hajj who is representing Club Al Taadod, in order to support them financially and mentally for their major competition.
