08 Sep. 2016 – The Lebanese Fencing delegation who is participating at the Arab Championship held in Amman, Jordan, added 5 more medals to their collection.
The women’s Epee team, lead by the national coach Bahij Charank, were able to grab a gold medal in the U17 category. They defeated team UAE in a close fight that ended in favor of our national team in 44-42. The team was formed by Marie Joe About Jaoude, Nay Salame and Laure Al Masri.
The three young women who are all Mont La Salle athletes, were fighting for another gold in the women’s team foil but the physical effort that they put to win a gold medal in Epee prevent them from giving their 100% in the foil. They ended with a Silver medal which is a great achievement for the team.
Furthermore, the men’s team U17 which includes Anthony Choueiry, Mike Barcha, Marc Al Rahi and Giorgio Daou, all from Mont La Salle, won the bronze medal in the men’s Epee.
On the other hand, the men’s Foil team was able to win another bronze medal for Lebanon with the joint efforts of Antoine Oneisi, Girogio Daou, Marc Al Rahi and Peter Ibrahim.
Finally, in the individual events, Nay Salame who, as we mentioned it before, helped her team win a gold medal and a silver medal in both Epee and foil, was able to win a bronze medal in the U17 women’s individual Epee. Therefore, she added three medals to her collection in the U17 category, without mentioning the medals she earned in the U15 category!
The results show the great potential of our athletes on the Arab Level. We wish to see these athletes perform on an international level and get the support they need to excel and win on the bigger stages.
Congrats!
