08 Sep. 2016 – Every year we have new faces in Track and Field Athletics, they are usually all young rising talents. But this year, there is one young woman who surprised everyone with her results. At 25 years old she might not be young, but she definitely has talent.
The woman in question is Jennifer Tomazou. The nutritionist used to only swim, bike and run for fun. She only used to exercise in the gym before Amine Dib discovered her and put her on the running track. Amine, who’s the man behind the Puma Hannibal Races, was the reason why she professional running after taking part in the Hannibal Race.
Jennifer first participated in SportsCode 5K Sundays that was being held in Jounieh. Her time on the 5K was amazing; she clocked 19:26 in this road race. A time that got the attention of Ali HAZER, the Lebanese record holder in 400m Hurdles and a member of the Champions Club.
Tomazou joined the Champions and started training under the supervision of Ali who gave her the opportunity to take part in the Lebanese Championship that was held at the end of July.

The young woman saw the competition as an opportunity to make her father proud, a man who was always a sportsman and a runner. Her participation at the Lebanese Open Clubs Championship was a surprise for most people. She finished fourth and clocked 20:48.21! A huge performance for someone who never participated in major championships before.
After the championship, she won many long distance races. Jennifer is now planning to run the Lebanese Half Marathon Championship that will be held next week in Jounieh. She also wants to take part in the Beirut Marathon 7km and she is traveling to Prague to participate in a very difficult trail race.
At the end of the day, Jennifer runs for the love of the sport: “I run because its in my blood and i love it! It’s the best feeling ever. Winning isn’t my target, hitting the finish line is my target. It gives me pleasure and makes me proud,” she said.
