26 Oct. 2016- According to the article 3-300 of the FIBA Internal Regulations, Sagesse Club faces a heavy sanction that bans them from signing any new foreign player.
The Green Castle failed to pay Elie Stephan’s wages and FIBA ruled in the player’s favor. Many others remain unpaid too, and the club’s debts are overwhelming them.
The only way Sagesse can sign a foreign player is if the latter has played only in the Lebanese Basketball League in the previous season.
Moreover, the club’s struggles to find stability on the financial and managerial level have been persistent and linger for many years.
At every start of the season, the management promises their fans to end the drought and win the championship that they have been waiting to clinch for over a decade, yet they fail to secure the appropriate budget to compete with other big teams.
Last but not least, for the sake of the competition, we hope that the ban will be lifted, so that the Green Castle can kick-start their way back to the top, and finally try to win the Championship they’ve been wanting to win for themselves and their fans, for more than 10 years now.
