15 Sep. 2015 – The Lebanese Swimming federation organized the Lebanese Championship in Maramar, Anfeh, that was held on three consecutive days this past week, 11 to 13 September, 2015.
On the first day, eleven new records were set! It started with Mahmoud JEMAA (4B) who broke the 400m IM record clocking 5:16.20.
Mont La Salle 100m Relay team formed by Rayen KATRA, Marvin KAZZI, Mario GHOSN and Mounzer KABBARA set a new record for the 12-13 category in 4:31.63. While team Jamhour in the 50m Freestyle, set a new 10-11 category record with Chadi HAIDAR, Dim CHEHAIB, Adam AL CHAB and Alexandre FAKHRI by clocking 2:16.08. The 4B team also set a new relay record in the 50m Freestyle Relay for the 8-9 category with Majed HIJAZI, Ram SALEH, Hamza NASER and Ahmad SAFIA clocking 2:36.39.
In the girls, Yandi BOU ABSI, Thereza BOUSTANI, Yasmina GHOJAJI and Yara AOUN joined forces to break the 8-9 category’s 4x50m Freestyle record in 2:59.58. Sillouette ABDEL BAKI (Al Najah) broke the 400m Freestyle record for the 8-9 girls with 6:00.62.
Mounzer KABBARA (MLS) who helped his team break the relay record performed on the individual level and broke the 50m Butterfly (12-13 category) record by flying this distance in 30.31 seconds! Majed HIJAZI (4B) who also helped his team set a new relay record, swam the 400m freestyle in 6:26.28 to ink his name in the history book of records. Rami GHZIRI (ORCA) set two new records in the 100m Breaststroke for 12-13 category in 1:16.73 and 2:37.37 in the 200m Backstroke. Maroun WAKED (Jamhour) broke the 200m Backstroke Seniors record clocking 2:18.44.
On the second day of competition, twelve record were set, Ahmad SAFIA (4B) opened with a new record in the 50m Freestyle for the 8-9 category with 34.83 seconds. Mounzer KABBARA (Mont La Salle) added a third record to his collection this time in the 100m Freestyle (12-13 category) clocking 1:12.83 on that distance and a fourth record in the 200m IM with 2:28.52. Adam AL CHAB (Jamhour) also added a new record in 100m Backstroke with 1:27.11. Anthony SAIBI (Jamhour) swam the 200m IM in 2:17.10 to set a new record for the 16-17 men while Maroun WAKED (Jamhour) broke the Seniors record for the same discipline clocking 2:18.61.
Mahmoud JEMAA (4B) added a new record in 100m freestyle (14-15 category) on this second day, swimming the distance in 57.01 seconds!
In the girls, Rebecca MEZHER (Mtayleb LSA) improved her own record in 50m Breaststroke clocking 35.81 seconds! Gabriella DOUEIHI (Mtayleb LSA) broke the 100m freestyle record for the 16-17 category crossing the distance in 1:00.50.
In the relays, Jamhour team opened with a new record in 100m Medley Relay boys (16-17 category) clocking 4:23.69. Mont La Salle followed them by adding a new record in 100m Medley Relay (Boys 12-13) clocking 5:08.21. And finally, Jamhour added one more relay record, in the 50m Medley (Boys 10-11) clocking 2:34.08.
On the third and last day of the Lebanese Championship, eight records were added to the 23 records of the day 1 and day 2, to finally have 31 records during the Lebanese Championship!
Jennifer RIZKALLA (Jamhour), who was with Gabriella DOUEIHI at the World Championship last month, set a new record in the 50m Backstroke for the Seniors Women, clocking 31.53 seconds! Rami GHAZIRI (ORCA) added a new record this time on 50m Backstroke for the 12-13 category with 31.81 seconds. Ahmad SAFIA (4B) also added a new record to his collection by breaking the 50m Backstroke for the 8-9 category with 41.13 seconds.
Gabriella DOUEIHI (Mtayleb LSA) set a second record in the 16-17 category, this time in the 200m Freestyle with 2:09.93. Mahmoud JEMAA (4B) continued his quest of records by breaking the 200m freestyle for the 14-15 category clocking 2:04.80. Marc KIBRIT (Mont La Salle) set a new record in the 200m Freestyle (8-9 category) with 2:58.59.
Mounzer KABBARA (Mont La Salle) added one more record to his career by clocking 1:07.39 on 100m Butterfly. Finally, the last record of this championship was achieved by Jamhour 400m freestyle Mixed relay team (Seniors) in 3:58.19.
We should finally note the absence of Al Jazira swimming team. With 31 records in three days, we noticed great individual and team achievements!
