03 Nov. 2016 – A host of Lebanese tennis players are currently in Jordan, participating in the ITF West & Central Asia 13 & Under Development Championships 2016. Thanks to Maria Breidy & Anna Hayek, Lebanon will be featuring in 2 of the tournament’s finals.
First, Breidy made it to the singles final by defeating Jordan’s Randa Al Qudsi 6-4 7-6, before partnering with Anna Hayek to beat Mehrani Melina & Meshkhatolzahra Safi (IRN) 6-2 6-2 and make it to the doubles final as well.
Then, there were other Lebanese players who also had consolation games such as Anna Hayek who defeated Shibaa Rahmani (AFG) 4-0 4-0 and Mehrani Melina (IRN) 4-2 4-1.
Fadi Bidan meanwhile overcame Daryan Saber (IRQ) 5-3 4-1 and Marco Azar lost against Sohrab Dokmenchin (IRN) 4-2 3-5 7-10. Finally, Azar & Bidan were defeated by Omar Fakhoury & Mohammed AlKotop (JOR) 7-5 2-6 5-10 in a doubles game.
Hard luck to those who did not make it to the final stages, and best of luck to Maria & Anna who may be on their way to win a gold medal!
