13 Nov.2016– Sagesse faced Sporting Club from Egypt in their second game of the Arab Club Championship. Having lost yesterday against AL Fateh, Sagesse wanted to redeem themselves against a foreign-less Sporting.
Our Lebanese representative looked fatigued after yesterday’s game as most players showed tiredness and slow movement up and down the court. Our defense was easy to break, most players remained stagnant even when playing zone for most of the time to recharge their batteries. Nonetheless, captain Sabah rolled back the years in a couple of plays scoring those signature threes and cutting hard to the basket.
It’s obvious Sagesse’s import are not up to the standard wish puts a lot of pressure on Terrell Stoglin who was double and triple teamed all game long reducing his attacking power. Unfortunately, Mohammed Ibrahim and Bashir Ammoury did not rise to the occasion to help the team record their first win.
The only good thing to take from this game is that youngster Georges-Yves Daaboul proved able to take the point guard spot after a great performance.
The game finished in a tense atmosphere as a buzzer beater three evened the score for Sporting and forced OT as Sagesse players ran out of gas. Sporting won the game 101-93.
