21 Nov.2016– After a very successful year last season and getting promoted to the fourth division, USJ built on past victories and managed yet again to get promoted for a second year in a row.
They started their campaign in the fourth division, a knock-out style league, with a win against Blue Stars, followed with wins against Bkannaya, Hariri Complex and finally Antranik Zahle to move on to the finals stage.
Unfortunately, they lost the first game against Chiyah 66-62 but their hopes of promotion stayed alive after defeating Ain Najem and Kalamoun in the following 2 games. The last game against Chiraa Bouar was a must win to seal their promotion. This was not the only catch as USJ could also win the league if they defeated Bouar with a margin of 5 points or more. This was possible because Bouar defeated Chiyah by a 5 point margin.
The game finished 65-62 in USJ’s favor, fulfilling their goal of getting promoted to the 3rd division alongside Bouar and Chiyah.
