02 Dec.2016– Mouttahed will host Byblos on Saturday in a much-anticipated game.
Both teams have made great changes to their line-ups during the offseason which boosted their chances to claim the title at this season’s end. Byblos have gathered together two of the best point guards out there, Ali Mahmoud and Rodrigue Akl. Both players have a great sense of the floor, when to push for the fast-break, when to slow the tempo down. Both these floor generals are great at directing their teammates and making the best of their movements when dishing those dimes. Ralph Akl will have a hard task to limit the danger and deny them the ball as much as possible.
Down low a mammoth fight is going down as Ali Kanaan and Charles Tabet will both try to dominate the basket and grab those vital rebounds to deny second-chance points. As both Ali and Ndudi can spread the defense, having respectable range, Will Daniels and Charles could leave space behind them, allowing Clay Tucker and Youngblood to have easier paths to the basket as both of them can penetrate the basket.
Zone defense does not seem a good idea at all as a duo of Ramel Curry and Dewarick Spencer will drop those threes easily, rain men for a reason ( new splash bros ? ). Think you can limit their shooting ? Well, think again because these are not their only shooters as Omar Ayoubi and Elie Rustom won’t hesitate to take a deep three or blow by you and take it right to the rim. It’s pick your poison with this team.
Yet they are not the only side that can shoot the ball as Byblos can rely on sharp shooter Omar Turk to hit those dagger threes any time the team needs him. In times of need, you absolutely count on Tarek Ammoury to fight for every 50/50 ball and leave everything out there. Role players as Marwan Ziade and Joe Abi Kheres will have a chance to prove their worth as the battle under the rim will definitely put someone in foul trouble.
