02 Dec. 2016 – Mayrouba hit the ground running in their first ever game in D1.
They showed heart, resilience, and passion throughout the game. Led by Calvin Cage and John Bohannon, the Keserwani team led the first half 39-31 against a lifeless Sagesse who appeared out of sync for much of the game.
Fouad Anati’s defense proved vital to keep Stoglin at bay as much as possible. Sabah Khoury tried to bring back his team into the game but couldn’t do it on his own.
The second half was Terrell’s time to shine, bucket after bucket, cutting the lead down to 6 . But Calvin Cage and Tom Ammar had other plans as they were able to get the lead back up to 10 in the beginning of the fourth quarter.
Sagesse’s frontcourt proved to be their weak point as Upshaw and Bohannon scored easily time after time. Mayrouba took advantage of the non-organized defense to record much of their points down low and win the game 85-69.
Terrell had 35 points and 8 rebounds while Varda had 13 points with 13 rebounds.
