26 Dec.2016- The small break is over as Tadamon host Mouttahed on Monday night.
Both teams are coming out of a loss in the last round and are willing to get back on track with a win against a contender.
In his last game, Jad Khalil didn’t perform well and his mindset must be on getting his old form back. Jad will lead the backcourt with Earvin Morris and will definitely push forward every time they get the ball. This fast tempo offense might be the weapon to put down Mouttahed. Fast, athletic and always ready to run, Tadamon’s players have set a unique style of play under coach Caughter, and Mouttahed’ slow lineup might be in trouble. Coach Abaz might be introducing Ralph Akl and Tanguy Osman more frequently in this game to catch up with Tadamon’s wings.
Mouttahed’s strong point today might be under the basket. Having 2 big guys in Charles Tabet and Will Daniels matching up with players like Jonathan Holton and Maurice Kemp is a big advantage for the Tripoli-based team. Both Daniels and Tabet are more physical and arguably more dominant down low. We saw the duo of Holton-Kemp suffering against big guys like Majok or Haidar-Aminu. Mouttahed should feed their big men.
Even if their big men are well settled, Mouttahed can always depend on a trio of Rustom-Curry-Spencer. Sharpshooters, slashers, providers, shot creators, we can go on and on. A cocktail of talents very hard to mix, as we have seen this trio can have his ups and downs. But in form, they are practically impossible to stop. Bilal Tabara could guard either Rustom or Curry as Earvin and Jad might switch while guarding Dewarick. But certainly, Tadamon will count on their team’s defense as a whole unit to stop them. Coach Caughter will like to minimize these one-on-one situations as Mouttahed’s players are more experienced and know how to steal fouls or make use of a man to man situation to score.
Both teams’ bench will play a role as Ali Fakher El Din and Rony Fahed will surely be required to help this young squad hold off an experienced Mouttahed side. On the other side, Omar Ayoubi will be eagerly waiting for his shot to prove he is not a fluke in this league.
