Lebanese Swimming Cup: 7 New National Records

30 Dec. 2016 – The Lebanese swimming federation just ended its activities for 2016 with the Lebanese Swimming Cup in the 25m pool. It was an event full of success and record breaking with 7 new national records being set.

An amazing 232 swimmers participated from 14 different clubs: Jamhour, Mont La Salle, Al Jazeera, Safra Marine, Al Najah, Mtayleb, Collina, Achmoun, 4B, Eureka, Al Ahed, Internal Security Forces, ATCL, and Army. They all battled in order to win the gold medal out of the 24 that were up for grabs.

In the 8-9 years category, Joseph Nader set a new record for the 50m backstroke with a time of 38.29 seconds. He also broke the national record in the 200m freestyle clocking 2 minutes 21 seconds.

In the 12-13 years category, Ramy Ghzeiry set a new record in the 100m free solo clocking 1 minute 3 seconds. He also set a new record in the 200m freestyle with a time of 2.05 minutes.

In the 14-15 years category, Mounzer Kabbarah broke the previous record of the 100m free solo clocking 1.01 minutes. He also set a new record in the 200m freestyle clocking 2minutes sharp.

As for the women’s 16-17 years category, Gabriella Doueihy shone again breaking the 200m freestyle with a time of 2.04 minutes.
