05 Jan. 2017 – A one of a kind futsal game called “Magic Futsal” will bring together the World’s Greatest Futsal players and Bank of Beirut futsal team (BOB) on the 4th of March 2018, at 5:30 PM in Biel.
Three of the world greatest futsal players were revealed. Falcão, Vahid Shamsaee and Ryan Giggs. The three other players who are expected to play in Lebanon, according to the old event picture are: van der Sar, Maldini and Ricardinho. (to be confirmed by the organizers)
Alessandro Rosa Vieira known as Falcão is one of the best Brazlian futsal players. He scored 339 goals in 201 appearances for his national team. He was recognized by FIFA as the Best Player of the tournament in the 2004 and 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cups. In 2008 and 2012, he helped Brazil win their 4th and 5th title in the FIFA Futsal World Cup.
In September 2016, Falcão retired from the Brazilan national team after they were eliminated by Iran in the round of 16 at the 2016 World Cup. Despite the early exit, he managed to score 10 goals, winning the Bronze Shoe, and ultimately becoming the all-time top goalscorer in FIFA Futsal World Cup history, having scored 48 times. Falcão is considered by many football experts and players the greatest player in futsal history.
Vahid Shamsaee is an Iranian futsal player and a coach who is currently manager of the Tasisat Daryaei FSC futsal team in the Iranian Futsal Super League. He is futsal’s top international goalscorer of all time. Shamsaei has been named AFC Futsal Player of the Year on three occasions (2007, 2008 and 2015). He has won eight AFC Futsal Championships with Iran.
Ryan Giggs joined Manchester United at the age of 14 in 1987. He made his professional debut in 1991 and spent the next 23 years in Manchester United’s first team. He holds the club record for competitive appearances. At international level, Giggs played for the Wales national team 64 times between 1991 and 2007, and was named captain of the Great Britain team that competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Giggs is the most decorated player in club football history. He won 13 Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, two UEFA Champions Leagues, a FIFA Club World Cup, an Intercontinental Cup, a UEFA Super Cup, and nine FA Community Shield. He was the only player to play in each of the first 22 seasons of the Premier League, as well as the only player to score in each of the first 21 seasons. He holds the record for the most assists in Premier League history, with 271.
Edwin van der Sar is a former professional Dutch footballer who played as a goalkeeper. During his career he played for Ajax, Juventus, Fulham and Manchester United. He is the second most decorated goalkeeper of all times behind Vitor Baia and one of the most successful footballers ever, having won 25 major trophies in his career, mainly at Ajax and Manchester United.
Paolo Maldini is an Italian former professional footballer who played for A.C. Milan and the Italian national team. He spent all 25 seasons of his career in the Serie A with Milan. He won 26 trophies with the club: the Champions League five times, seven Serie A titles, one Coppa Italia, five Supercoppa Italiana titles, five European Super Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
He has a record of 126 caps with Italy, a record which was only been bettered by Fabio Cannavaro in 2009, and Gianluigi Buffon in 2013. He was named the Captain of Italy 74 times. He took part in three European Championships, and four World Cups with his national team. He reached the final of the 1994 World Cup and Euro 2000, and the semi-final of the 1990 World Cup and Euro 1988. Maldini is regarded as one of the greatest defenders of all times. He also placed third in the Ballon d’Or on two occasions.
Ricardo Filipe da Silva Braga known as Ricardinho, is a Portuguese professional futsal player who plays for Spanish club Inter FS and the Portugal national team as a winger. He was named the Best Player of the World by Futsal Planet in 2010, as a Benfica player, and in 2014 and 2015, as an Inter FS player. Ricardinho is the first and only Portuguese futsal player to receive the award.
The star team will play against Bank of Beirut who were able to ink their name in the history books in a very short period and proved to be one of the best Lebanese Futsal teams. They won the Lebanese Championship in 2014 and 2015, the Lebanese Cup in 2015 and 2016, Super Cup in 2015 and finished 5th at the Asian Futsal Championship in 2015.
