25 Jan. 2017 – Hike for a cause is non-profit organisation. The name is self explanatory as hikers from around Lebanon gather and take on challenging journeys, but always for a cause.
Despite being initiated in late 2016 (October), hike for a cause, aka Hike4ACause, has made some pretty impressive achievements. First of all, they held an awareness session for drug addicts discussing the benefits of sports, especially hiking at Heaven’s Joy Center. The organization was featured on TV and on the radio on several occasions. Moreover, hikers in Lebanon went on two journeys; the first to Chouan Lake (50 people) and the second to Horsh Ehden (170 people). A group of 40 gathered once more at Heaven’s Joy Center to distribute gifts for Christmas. Finally, they initiated communication with schools and universities to raise awareness against drug use.
As if last year’s achievements weren’t enough, Hike for a Cure are going even bigger and higher this year!
In fact, they will be starting a 7-summit project. They will kick it off with the summit of Kilimanjaro in February and follow it up in June with the Elbrus Summit. They will also organize one hike per month in order to discover all the beauties of Lebanon. However, our country is not their only target and their vision is limitless. They will plan a hike to Jordan too. In February, they will hold an awareness session for Jesus and Mary as well as Champville and of course many other schools and universities.
