01 Feb. 2017 – With one game remaining in the 2017 WABA Championship, Lebanon already claimed the title with the latest win 72-61 against Jordan. Indeed, with 4 wins out of 4 matches, Lebanon secured the gold medal with no other scenario able to reverse that.

Against Jordan, the Lebanese team started off strongly with Fadi El Khatib and Ali Haidar leading the charge, and the score was 27-9. In the 2nd and 3rd quarters, the Jordanians attempted to come back with the Lebanese players losing their focus but it was not enough to overcome our team.
The Cedars did not look back once in the game and went on to win the trophy. It is agreed that the level of the tournament was not the best, but a win is still a win and it will surely boost the players moral after last year’s fiasco.
