13 Feb. 2017 – Leo El Achkar, 18, is a young Lebanese track and field champion living and training in France. He specializes in the Heptathlon and decathlon but this season his main focus are the hurdle races: 60mH indoor and 110mH outdoor.
He was crowned Junior French Champion last season in the 110mH race and made it to the French national team that is heading to the European championships.
Last weekend he surprised everyone again at the French Junior Indoor Nationals that were held in Nantes. In fact, he won gold in the 60m hurdles race clocking a very fast 7.90 seconds, his new personal best. This performance allowed him to qualify again for the French NT. He will be competing in an international meet in Germany this March. He will represent France in the 60mH where he will do his best to break his personal best again.
“I’ve already won national titles in the outdoor events but I was never able to win a podium at the indoors. I am stronger in the last part of the race so 60m was a quite short and hard distance for me to run. I am very happy of my new national title especially that the competition this year was really hard,” said Leo
As soon as he comes back for Germany he will focus even more on the hurdles races and try to break his record in the 110mH this summer.
We wish him all the best.
