07 Apr.2017– A PG is always asked to control the game, to lead his team and guide his teammates. For a 19-year-old trying to engrave his fingerprints on the game, it’s easier said than done.
Allow me to introduce Tebnin’s new point guard, Ali Mansour.But before I do, for a brief moment, imagine being in the shoes of this young man trying to fight for a spot among the best in the game.The buzz is palpable. You’re immediately dubbed as the team’s point guard of the future – obviously a huge responsibility to bear.

Ali started playing basketball at the age of 10 at Harlem for just for 1 year before moving to Hoops at the age of 11. Few months after, he traveled to Italy at the age of 12 where he played a tournament and got the MVP. Since then, scouts saw in Ali a future star than can lead any team.

Mansour’s exquisite performances caught the eyes of coach Joe Mojaes as he selected him to play for the NT. His journey started with the national team u15, then went to Dubai with the National team u16 and played against teams with the likes of Spain and Greece. He wore the colors of the U17 at the Arab Championship in Egypt and continued to perform at a high level.

Your talent determines what you can do, your motivation determines how much you are willing to do, and Ali was one motivated guy. He went to Phoenix Arizona for a 1-month training camp. And got an offer from GENESIS ACADEMY high school in the states. Followingly Ali stayed for 1 year with genesis then went to egypt again with u18 national team ( arab championship) as he helped the national team to reach the finals and got the MVP of the tournament. Our NT then went to Iran to compete in the Asian championship as Ali helped them reach the semis but unfortunately we didn’t make it to the world cup!

Ali was knocking doors down, he got a lot of D1 offers but decided to continue his career in the states after receiving an offer from 1 of the top school in Orlando Florida, Conrad academy. This year, Mansour came back to Lebanon for good, and is now playing in the second division as he is getting ready for next year, D1 maybe?

Ali is having an exceptional season, living up to the expectations, through hard work and perseverance, having two 40 point- games against 2 of the best teams in D2, Antounieh and Central. He even scored 10 threes away from home in Baada as Antounieh couldn’t cool him off.
