2015 Lebanon Water Festival Launches with International Jet Ski Race

28 Jul. 2015 – The heavy heat did not discourage Jet Ski lovers to gather in a friendly and festive atmosphere for the Lebanon Water Festival’s International Jet Ski Race  at the Four Stars Resort in Ghazir. 17 Lebanese Jet Ski racers including 2 women, competed in the race, which launched the fourth edition of the Lebanon Water Festival. Members of the press, including pro surfer and blogger for Eurosport Lee-Ann Curren were also present to cover the event.

The race was organized in collaboration with the Lebanese Motorboat Federation (LMF) and the Lebanese Motorboat Club and judged by a jury composed of Simon Khoury Founder of the Lebanon Water Festival, Fadi Fakhoury and Karim Chamoun. As the start line referee, George Bamlaen was manning the flag.

Toni Angelil, winner of the 2012 and 2014 Lebanon Water Festival Jet Ski competitions, took the first place with a time of 2:01:17. Toufic Ziade placed second with a time of 2:01:83, while Elie Kannan finished third with a time of 2:02:33

“The race went very well, despite the fact that some racers were not able to make it to the race. The sea had a deep swell, which made it more difficult for racers to manage their Jet Ski”, explained Tino Angelil, owner of the Lebanese Motorboat Club and former Jet Ski champion.

The event ended with the awards ceremony, headed by the president of the LMF, Mr. Chalouhi who distributed the awards to the winners and with a parade, on the race’s circuit, of a floating fiberglass Mini Cooper specially created for the occasion. Paragliders from the leading paragliding school in Lebanon “Exit to Nature” also flew above the circuit, carrying the Lebanese and Lebanon Water Festival flags.
