29 Oct. 2015 – Twelve Inter-Lebanon runners are going to participate in the New York City Marathon that is being held on November 1st, 7 days before the Beirut Marathon!
According to the president of the Inter-Lebanon and Road Running club Roger BEJJANI:”8 out of the 12 will be engaged in an inter-Inter interesting competition: Dori HITTI will be pacing Maha SHAIR [while] Sonia HANNA will be pacing Mario SARADAR, Nadine KALOT will be pacing Karina SUKAR [and finally] Micky CHEBLI will be pacing Ghassan HAJJAR.”
Roger likes to put some pressure on the runners to challenge them in order to give the best out of them! “Dori, Sonia, Nadine and Micky will not be running competitively NYC; whereas Brandan KNIBIEHLY, Patrick DEKORSI, Ghassan HAJJAR, Maha SHAIR and Karina SUKKAR are shooting for a personal best. Mario SARADAR, Zeina KIRYAKOS Sa SAYEGH and Nour KHOUEIRI have selected the Big Apple for their first ever Marathon,” added Roger.
Sonia HANNA finished second last year at the Beirut Marathon crossing the finish line after Chirine NJEIM who set a new National record earlier this month. Sonia ran her best marathon ever this year setting a new personal best of 3:02:29 at the Berlin Marathon.
On the other hand, Pia NEHME is running on October 31st the Philadelphia Half-Marathon.
This year, three Inter-Lebanon Athletes were on the podium of the Half Marathon Lebanese Championship. It is obvious that the club will be competing for places on the podium during the BDL Beirut Marathon 2015, but the question is, who is going to be on the podium and in what order?
It is very important, especially in long distance running, for athletes to support, pace and challenge each others in order to improve! The competition with Chirine NJEIM and the rest of the teams is going to be very exciting and we will surely notice another exciting Beirut marathon this year!
Good luck for the athletes who are running both, NYC and BDL Beirut Marathon, as well for Pia NEHME who is running the Half Marathon! All the best!
