2015 Lebanese Fencing Championship results

19 Nov. 2015 – The Lebanese Fencing Federation organized the Lebanese Championship for all categories in Mont La Salle, Ain Saade. The Championship started with a minute of silent for the fencer Roland SARNOUK who passed away during the bombing attack in Burj Al Barajne.

When sport is a message of peace, we can’t accept the loss of a member of our sports society, a peace maker! Every athlete is competing with integrity, respect to others and passion for the sport.

We reached a point where every organization should work for peace. The International Olympic Committee is also working for peace through sports and we should do the same. It is our own way to fight terrorism in the world.

In the Lebanese Fencing Championship, Mont La Salle and the Lebanese Army were the two most dominant clubs:

In the Boys U17 Epee, Antoine ANISSI (Mont La Salle) won the title after defeating his teammate Gio DAOU in an exciting finale that ended in 14-15! Tarek DACCACH and Ramy BAYDOUN, both from Mont La Salle, shared the 3rd place and the bronze medal.

In the Women U20 Epee, Nour FARHAT won over Nay SALAME to grab the gold medal while Marie Joe ABOU JAOUDE and Yasmine FARHAT both ended in third place. The four fencers are from Mont La Salle again!

In the Men’s Sabre, the Lebanese Army fencers dominated the podiums with Mahmoud ALI AHMAD winning gold, Chafik KHOURY grabbing silver, Rabih WEHBE and Ziad JALBOUT sharing the bronze.

The challenge between Mont La Salle and the Lebanese Army was finally revealed in the Veteran’s category! Bahij CHARNAJ from the Lebanese Army was able to defeat Khalil ABOU KHALIL from Mont La Salle, while Roger TANIOS (Mont La Salle) and Jean SABIH (Lebanese Army) shared the third place.

Finally we should mention that the International Referee Ziad ABOU ARAJ directed the championship and was supported by Michel YOUSSEF and Claudine RIZK who supervised the matches with the federal referees Sahil SAAD, Rita ABOU JAOUDE and Imad NAHHAS.
