08 Jan. 2016 – The start of the Lebanese basketball championship has not been very good for Champville, with the team losing 2 games and conceding over 100 points in both of them. Therefore, coach Ghassan SARKIS sent a message to Champville fans in order to explain what is happening this season!
Here is what he said:
“This is only for #ChampvilleNation fans as I always want them to be aware of every detail… When I met the administration less than 2 months ago to discuss the budget, sponsors, team issues & new players to replace the 7 players who left during the summer, it was obvious that we were obliged to build a team with a very low budget… The decision was to sign Micho (position 2), Hamsho (5) & Peedi (4)… We played in Chalhoub tournament with these 3 players, we signed T.Leather & played with him, Hamsho & Peedi in the Lebanese Cup… Just before the Championship kick off we got our WOLF Niko back, so we had to start again with a different line up … Our point guard #Gunman Karl Sarkis did not play in the Chalhoub tournament due to injury & he needs a couple more games to regain his game shape & full efficiency .. Most of the other teams played in these tournaments with the same imports, or at least with 2 of them which gave them the kind of chemistry needed at the start of the league… I wish I had a magic stick in my hands to fix all our technical problems with a quick touch… Yes we are suffering defensively & we are working hard on it… U will see big improvements soon… There are also some technical things that I will not mention now concerning the 1st 2 games, I will reveal them in due time.. On the other hand we saw a lot of positivities in the team so far.. 1-Our locals, as a group, are performing much better than any group of locals in other teams… 2- we are running the best offense in the league & playing with great offensive chemistry 3- Our locals are taking big responsibilities in the team, defensively & offensively 4- We are the best team in assists 5- we are rebounding with efficiency 6- we have a very good balanced offensive team ( we are still working to improve our inside/outside passing game) 7- Our team’s 3 pts % is extremely high 8- We are playing as a TEAM not WATCHING 3 imports playing ALONE as some other teams are doing 9- We have the best RISING STARS in the league Karl Assi (1998), Youssef Ghantous (1996), Mansour Khoueiry (1997), Marc Korjian (1995) & John Assi (1994).. This is a GROWING team, with a bright future ahead… Be proud of this team.. 9- Be patient Champville fans #BlueSoldiers… the #WolfPack will NEVER deceive u… 10- Remember how many people criticized our #Sniper Elie stephan last season saying that he’s done etc… Watch what this #Wolf is doing now… 11- Trust me I have faced similar & much worse situations every season of my career so far, just remember last season to spare me mentioning so many other situations with EVERY other club I have had the honor to coach.. The #WolfPack needs ur support & #Loyalty in every home game.. I urge the #BlueSoldiers to come in HUGE numbers this Sunday @4 pm in #ChampvilleNation #HomeofDaWolves to support the #Wolfpack in the game against Sagesse..”
