19 Jan. 2016 – Our Lebanese fencer Dominique TANNOUS finished 6th in the Youth Fencing Championship in Epee that was held in Dijon, France.
Dominique played a very hard match against the Russian Alina KOMAROVA that ended in 14-15 for the Russian! Dominique collected 14 points for the world youth ranking U20, which allowed her to take fourth place in the World Youth Ranking in Epee! A great achievement for Lebanon and for the young and talented Lebanese fencer.
It is sad to mention that Dominique TANNOUS is participating in such important meets without a coach! It is not acceptable that no one is supporting our young talents! It is also not acceptable that money in this particular case is the only issue for not having a coach supporting the young athlete achieve greatness!
Dominique is a lone soldier who is preparing for the Asian Fencing championship that will be held in Bahrain next month, and for the World Fencing Championship that will be held in the month after. Dominique is also preparing to qualify for the Summer Olympic Games Rio 2016!
But for this to happen this young talent needs support! We would like to take this opportunity to encourage the sponsors to support Dominique is order to qualify for the Olympic Games! For now, we only have one athlete qualified for the Olympics, Chirine NJEIM who achieved the qualification standards in the Marathon!
The Olympic Games is not only the athletes dream, it is also our country’s dream! So let’s put our hands together in order to raise our flag high in Rio De Janeiro 2016.
