12 Feb. 2016 – The Lebanese Ski Federation organized the second stage of the Lebanese Slalom and Giant Slalom Championship last week in Mzar with the participation of 51 skiers from 7 different countries: Italy, Argentina, Greece, Slovakia, Cyprus and Morocco.
Two Slalom races were organized after a delay caused by the storm that affected Lebanon during the past week. The slalom was held on the Refuge slope in Mzar Kfardebian. The championship was dedicated for both the Seniors and Youth Category.
In the first Slalom Race, Lea KEYROUZ, managed to take first place in the Seniors category, but she also managed to win her primary Juniors category. Celine KEYROUZ came in second place in both the Seniors and Juniors category as well and Carlie ISKANDAR finished third in the women’s and first in the Youth Category.
Sonia GEORGE who is now representing Lebanon at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, finished second in the first race after Carlie, while Sarine TOTONJIAN was placed third in this category.
In the men’s category, Steohano ZOTCHI from Italy won the race leaving Jann JACOB from Slovakia in second place and Christian SIMARI from Argentina in third place. Jann also won the Juniors category while Alexandre MOHBAT finished second behind him and Alexandre ABOU JAOUDE finished in third place.
In the Youth category, Jeffrey ZINA RAHME, who is also representing Lebanon at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, won the Slalom. Fecilis MANTSIOS from Greece finished in second place and Alain BEHLOK finished in the third position.
In the second race, Sonia GEORGE managed to win the Seniors category as well as her Youth category. Sophia FAYAD came in second place in the Women’s and in the Youth category. Judy ARNOUK came in third place in the Seniors and third in the Youth category. Lea KEYROUZ won the Juniors and Leticia EL KHOURY came second after her in the same category.
In the men’s second slalom, Christian SIMARI from Argentina came in first place in the Seniors category, Jeffrey ZINA RAHME came in second place in this category and first place in the Youth one. Georgio KAKORAS from Cyrpus came in third place in the Men’s and in second place in the Youth. Albert ASWAD came in third place in the Youth category. Cyril ABOU JAOUDE came first in the Juniors.
