16 Feb. 2016 – Jeffrey RAHME is the second youth athlete representing Lebanon at the second edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games Lillehammer 2016. Sonia GEORGES is the only female representing our country.
At only 17 years old, Jeffrey has already his eyes turned to the next Olympic Games! Specialized in Super G, Slalom and Giant Slalom, Jeffrey also trains for downhill! But here in Lillehammer, the youth athletes don’t compete in Downhill.
Encouraged by his uncle Rudy RAHME, Jeffrey started skiing at three years old! He already took part in many international championships like the World Juniors Ski Championship that was also held in Lillehammer last year!Image may be NSFW.

“I know the slopes in Lillehammer. The gates changes but it is almost the same track. The snow is different from Lebanon. Here it is icier! in Lebanon it is warm and sometimes we ski in shorts! The slopes are only good for skiing in the early morning,” said RAHME.
Jeffrey is a very dedicated athlete; he is very serious about becoming a professional athlete. He travels a lot to prepare for the big events but also, he is planning on studying abroad in a sports college to manage both his studies and training.
“I was comparing myself with a Polish skier earlier. I skied for 40 days this year, the guy skied for 170 days! The Polish team came to Lillehammer four weeks prior to the Olympics to train. Physically, I am as good as they are, but the difference lies in the technique,” added RAHME.
“I train alone with my Slovakian coach Marek GARAY. I don’t have someone who challenges me during training nor in competitions,” admitted Jeffrey.
During the off season, Jeffrey goes twice a day to the gym to build a strong physical condition. He goes once before school at 6:00 AM and once again after school.
The young athlete competed in the Super G yesterday and came 44th overall with 1:18.69. He also competed in the men’s combined and finished 26th overall with a total of 2:04.42. He will be competing in the Slalom and Giant Slalom on the 17th and 19th.
Sonia GEORGES, on the other hand, is now competing in the Giant Slalom! In her first run, she finished 36th overall with 1:33.56. She just completed her second run and moved to the 31st position with 3:03.87! She will also compete in the Slalom in two days.
We wish both of them a great experience!
