19 Feb. 2016- Anwar won in their 2016 Arab Volleyball Championship opening game against Al Sahra club from Oman 3-1 and Zahra lost their opening game against Al Nasr from Bahrain 1-3.
Anwar had a great start of the game by winning the first set 25-18. The Lebanese team led the game 2-0 after securing a tough win in the second set 29-27. Al Sahra won the third set 20-25 but Al Anwar won the fourth set 25-22 to note the first championship win.
On the other hand, Zahra failed to match up with Al Nasr. The sets results came as following 25-22, 29-27, 20-25 and 25-22.
Lebanon is not only represented by clubs in this championship. Lebanese referee Joseph KHARMA led Al Najem Al Sahili vs Ahli game.
