03 Mar. 2016 – The Lebanese Basketball Under 18 National Team is pursuing its preparation for the Asian Championship that will be held in Iran during the month of July.
Our national team qualify for the Asian Championship as part of the West Asian countries. The team, formed by 15 players, are training three times a week in Antranik, A.G.B.U. Sports Center, in Naccach, under the supervision of the National coach Joe MOUJAES, the assistant coach Charbel AL BACH and the director of the team Tony JOHNATOYAN.
The players also have physical and conditioning sessions twice a week with the coach Fouad GERGES. The players who took part in training are: Ali Mansour, Dani Khoury, Adel Rizk, Ibrahim Haddad, Mark Khoury, Sami Ghandour, Elie Dani, William Sawam, Mohamad Coptan, Salim Alaa El Dine, Joe Ziade and Nadi Hachem.
The Lebanese Basketball federation decided to participate the U18 National Team in the second division championship as a practice for the Asian championship. We should note that the results of the U18 team will not count in the second division championship. Playing a lot of games is crucial for their preparations.
According to Ramy FAWAZ, a member of the Lebanese Basketball Federation, “our National team’s preparations for the Asian Championship are intensive and are going great so far. The Administrative committee, headed by Walid NASSAR, is being very generous and is supporting the team to achieve the best of the results!”.
Finally, the Youth National team previously achieved a silver medal in the Arab Basketball Championship that was held in Alexandria, Egypt, in July 2015. The delegation was also directed by Ramy FOUAZ!
