02 Jun. 2016 – Sara Joe KORTBAWI is on her way to Vietnam for the 17th Asian Juniors Athletics Championship. She is the only Lebanese representative accompanied by Wassim HAWLI.
Mahmoud DAOU (CSJ) was supposed to be representing Lebanon as well at this championship being the best Juniors athlete now in Lebanon, but he injured his hamstring at the University Championship last week. He’s expected to be back on track soon we wish him a fast recovery!
Sara Joe is going to run both the 1500 meters and the 800 meters. Excelling in both events, Sara’s aim is to set new records in both events but more importantly, her target is to do the qualifications for the World Juniors Championship that will be held in mid-July in Russia.
To qualify for the world championship, Sara should run the 800 meters in 2:09.20! Her best performance so far is 2:14.85. She is also the Lebanese record holder of both distances including the 1000 and the 2000 meters in the Bantam, Midget, Youth and Juniors categories!
