30 Jul. 2016- Lebanese U18 Basketball national team had to face Japan for the 2nd time in this tournament. Lebanon defeated Japan 73-51 in the group stage and was looking to win and secure a place in the final & the world cup.
Our national team players had a great start on offense where they scored 22 points in 10 minutes to create 8 points gap at the end of 1st quarter. In the 2nd quarter, Japan improved the style of defense and successfully managed to stop the Lebanese offense (scoring 11 points in 10 minutes) and lead the game by 3 points. Halftime score: Lebanon 33-36 Japan.
The 3rd quarter was also in favor of Japan where they could dominate our players on defense, 3rd quarter score: Lebanon 44-55 Japan. Our players struggled in the last quarter and failed to come back. End of game: Japan won the game 59-75.
Lebanon is out of the championship but still chasing the main target of reaching the FIBA U19 World Cup, to do so our players should win tomorrow and secure the 3rd place of the tournament.
