Manchester City take care of Stoke to grab second PL win

20 Aug. 2016– Looking to improve after their opening match, Manchester City looked a whole lot better against Stoke. Scoring a pair of goals in each half, City went on to win the match 4-1. Stokes only goal came from Bojan, scoring a penalty a few minutes into the second half.

With better passing and overall control of the match, City relentlessly pressed the hosts until finally grabbing their first goal. Otamendi was brought down in the box following a corner kick for the Citizens, leading to an Aguero penalty. Looking to add to that lead, less than 10 minutes later, Aguero scored yet another goal thanks to a superb cross from Kevin De Bruyne giving City a 2-0 lead before half-time. Though Manchester City dominated, Stoke were robbed of a penalty of their own.

Hoping for a comeback, Stoke won a penalty, which Bojan scored, cutting City’s lead in half. Only being down by one, the hosts used everything they had to tie it up. Unfortunately for them, the visitors weren’t going to allow it. Newly signed Nolito again stretched the lead to two, securing a second win in as many weeks for his new club. However, that wasn’t enough for the Spanish star, as he scored another goal taking any hope Stoke had for a better result away.

City will host West Ham next week, where as Stoke will travel to Everton in hope to win their first PL game of the season. Winning their next game will be key for City, as they will face rivals United the week after. A third win in as many games will do wonders for their confidence. With United playing how they are, a boost in moral could be the difference maker. That wont be the only rivalry on the field as new coaches Pep Guardiola, and Jose Mourinho go head-to-head in the same league for the first time since the former coach F.C Barcelona, and the latter coached Real Madrid.
