07 Sep. 2016 – Kiiking is a sport invented in Estonia in 1996. It consists of an athlete standing on a swing of steel and turning 360 degrees over it.
In 2005, the record in the Guinness Book was 666 turns over the bar. However, 12 year old Bechara Abou Khater came along and smashed that number. As a matter of fact, it took the Lebanese athlete around 25 minutes to break the record with 667 turns but he didn’t stop there. He kept swinging and swinging for almost 9 additional minutes and not only did he break the previous record, he also wrecked it with an astounding 800 swings in 34 minutes. Lebanon enters the Guinness Book of Records in the Kiiking event thanks to tremendous efforts of Bechara Abou Khater.
Congratulations to our young Lebanese athlete. He will undoubtedly turn heads with such talent and hard work.
