Lebanese Table Tennis Doubles Championship Reveals the True Meaning of Olympism

 10 Sep. 2016 – The Lebanese Table Tennis Championship is being held in Mont La Salle under the supervision of the Lebanese Federation. The Men and Women’s doubles have come to and end with four winners!

In the men’s category, Joseph Chalhoub from Al Fadi Al Akdas Club joined forces with Fadi Kiwan from Mont La Salle to grab the title after defeating Rachid El Boubou from Riyadi Beirut and Avo Moumjoghlian from Homenetmen Beirut in 3/2: 12-10, 11-9, 8-11, 9-11, 11-8!

Moreover, Oussama Homsi from Riyadi Beirut and Ralph Hamdar from Antranik Beirut, shared the third place with Mohamad Hamiye from Badwe Kamatiye and Ghalib Fahes from Baraem Nabatiye.

On there other hand, in the women’s category, Mariana Sahakyan from Nadwa Kamatiye who represented Lebanon at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, grabbed the women’s double title with teammate Malek Khoury after winning over Noel Kichichian and Kara Kajahbachian from Homenetmen Beirut in 3/2: 7-11, 9-11, 11-3, 13-11, 11-9.

Finally, Rita and Mayssa Bssaibes as well as Anna and Nina Markirian from Antranik Beirut shared the bronze medal.

This event in particular shows how in a Lebanese Championship the athletes, who come from different clubs,  can combine their strengths in order to fight together for the title. This is a true meaning of friendship between the opponents and a core value of Olympism!
