21 Oct. 2016- Good or bad, necessary or uncalled for, Ronaldo is always in the news. Usually, it’s football related. However, unfortunately for him, this was not one of those times. The Real Madrid superstar is being bashed by Buddhists all around the world.
On a trip he will long remember, Ronaldo uploaded a photo on his Instagram posing with a statue of Gautam Buddha. Now there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, except Cristiano’s foot is on the base of the statue. Obviously he meant no disrespect, yet he managed to do just that. ESPN reported that after nine hours, the photo had received 1.4 million likes on Instagram, and 940, 381 reactions on Facebook which included 47, 677 angry emojis coming from displeased followers.
Although is was an honest mistake, Ronaldo should in fact apologize to those who were offended. Simply to soften the blow and begin the healing process with Buddhists.
