30 Oct. 2016 – The 2016 Lebanese fencing championship was taking place at Mont La Salle, with numerous competitors fighting in their respective categories.
In the U17 Epee competition, Marie Joe Abou Jaoude was able to grab gold by defeating her MLS teammate Nay Salameh. The biggest surprise in that category though was Thea Abou Araj, who finished third while she’s just 10 years old! Jana Ammar also got a bronze medal.
On the other hand, in the veterans foil category, General Michel Youssef got the gold meal by defeating Chafic El Khoury in the final game. Third place meanwhile was shared between Bahij Chranek & Khalil Bou Khalil.
Finally, in the men teams competition, the Lebanese Army “A” defeated the Army “B” team to take the gold medal while also securing a silver one. Both of Mont La Salle’s “A”& “B” teams finished third.
