Tadamon Come From Behind to steal the win in Day 2 of HCBT

05 Nov.2016 –  Tadamon kept their great run and this time at the expense of Homenetmen in the opening game of day 2 in Henri Chalhoub basketball tournament.

Joe Mojaes’ men started their quest for a second win with the usual fast tempo offense in a stacked Chiyah stadium. Homenetmen’s known enthusiastic crowd played a major role in trying to propel their team to victory. On the other hand, Tadamon’s bad shot decisions allowed Mike Taylor and co to push on the break and score easy points. Tadamon’s bad shooting night started off with 0 shots made behind the arc out of 15 taken, with 18% field goal percentage which allowed Hoho to finish the quarter up by 9, 22-13.

The picture did not change in the second quarter for the red warriors even with the introduction of legendary sharp shooter Rony Fahed. They were not able to catch their rhythm. As for the man in the army uniform, Mike Taylor’s leadership proved to be vital getting the ball up the floor quickly before the defense was well set. Ater Majok kept pounding down low dominating the basket, scoring some easy points and finishing the half with his team leading 52-39.

With the start of the second half Tadamon came out strong as Paul Caughter refused to hand the game so easily to his opponents. Earvin Morris led the break to try and reduce the lead, and was able to do so with the help of former national team center Ali Fakherdine. Their run didn’t last too long as Ater Majok shot blocking abilities proved essential in protecting his basket and helped tame  Tadamon’s offense and propel his team into the fourth quarter leading by 11 points, 70-59.

The last quarter was a totally different story as Tadamon started to play  full court defense, trapping Homenetmen’s players and forcing them to commit turnover after turnover. Homenetmen were limited to scoring 2 points in the first 4 minutes of the quarter allowing Morris , Kemp and Holton to click into gear and even the score with 4 minutes left on the clock. Mike Taylor assumed control of the game and was the go-to guy for the remainder of the dying minutes. But Earrvin Morris had a different idea scoring 2 consecutive treys and a steal leading his team to a 91-87 lead and were able stay in-front to clinch the win with a score of 97-92.

Majok was his team’s best scorer with 22 points, Taylor had 19 and Hayk pitched in with 18. But they were overshadowed by the teams 34 turnovers.

Kemp was the game’s best scorer with 29 points, Morris has 20 and Holton 14 to ensure their team goes 2-0 in this tournament.
