Nov 24. 2016- Fresh off a derby victory, Real Madrid faced Sporting Lisbon in a UEFA Champions League match-up. Despite managing to win the game 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Karim Benzema, Madrid lost their Welsh superstar Gareth Bale before the 60-minute mark to an apparent ankle injury.
After going through some tests, the team confirmed that Bale in fact dislocated the peroneal tendons in his right ankle. Real Madrid also confirmed that he will not be available for El Classico, which is set to take place December 3rd. According to AS, the injury will require three to four weeks of recovery. However Madrid have not given a specific timetable for Bale’s return.
