08 Dec. 2016 – More European universities have registered in the 8th edition of the Beirut Unisports Festival, organized by USJ between March 23rd & 26th 2017.
This year and unlike the past ones, teams have been registering way before the tournament, while in the past years they had to decide at the last minute due to severe security conditions and warnings from their embassies.
Maroun El Khoury, the head of the organizing committee stated:” We are expecting a big participation in this edition, due to the stability that electing a president has brought to the country. We’re consistently communicating with the European & Arab universities who were awaiting the event but were afraid of the situation in Syria that had repercussions here. Some others requested the Festival to be moved to Cyprus, but until now the committee has decided that it will take place in Lebanon with whoever wants to come as we will never stop believing in our country.”
Let’s hope the situation will be fine come the time of the unisports festival, so that the best image possible of Lebanon can be transmitted to the international scene.
