14 Jan. 2017 – After crushing Louaize away from home in the Lebanese Basketball League, Byblos host Tadamon who have just come out of a tough loss at home against Mayrouba in the dying seconds.
The home team is currently the closest to Homenetmen, with only 1 game separating them. They will need a win in order to keep high chances of snatching first place.
Ndudi Ebi, one of the most versatile players in the league is surely going to cause problems for Tadamon, as they don’t have someone of the same size and mobility. His 19 points and 15 points outing against Louaize prove that, as Wendell Lewis and other defenders could not contain him. Another key player for Byblos who seems determined lately, as he was aggressive attacking the basket and hitting long shots is Jay Youngblood. Clay Tucker meanwhile is the most unstable player on his team. His game is determined by how good of a shooting night he’s having so it would be simple defending him.
The depth of Byblos’ bench may also be a turning point in that game, as they can switch tempo or defensive strategies pretty fast.
An interesting matchup will be between Rodrigue Akl & Jad Khalil, the national team’s point guards. Both have been outstanding this season, and while Jad Khalil prefers the fast tempo, Rodrigue should be looking to slow it down in order to feed Ali Kanaan and Ebi on the post.
Earvin Morris will be the key man for Tadamon. He needs to be on his best night in order for his team to have a chance. Morris Kemp also has to match-up with bigger guys, draw some fouls and put them in foul trouble early on to mess up coach Nenad’s plans.
Rony Fahed’s three points can be very decisive as well. He’s used to force shots so if they fall, it can boost his team but if not, then they are in deep trouble because Byblos have the ability to capitalize on every mistake.
