14 Jan. 2017 – After creating a huge surprise at the ITF Asia 14 & Under Development Championship – D2, Maria Breidy made it to the Division 1 by reaching the final and clinching that silver medal.
In fact, she first reached the quarter-final and defeated the seeded number 1 in the tournament Bhisti (Nepal). She then advanced to the semi-final and defeated the Jordanian Jana Khatib, seeded number 3. Finally, she played the final game against Waarawansa from Sri Lanka, seeded number 2 in tournament. Unfortunately for her, she was not able to grab the win against the Sri Lankan. However, despite not winning the tournament, Breidy earned her sport against the elite athletes, as she secured a place in the division 1!
Congrats to the 10-year-old champ!
