28 Sep. 2015 – Today, September 28, the Lebanese basketball national team will face China at 2:30 P.M (Beirut Time), to try and get back from the loss against Korea.

Lebanon and China have fallen in the same group in the second round of the FIBA Asia championship and following a first loss against Korea, the Lebanese team desperately needs a win to keep the quarter-final chances alive!

Here are both teams history at the FIBA Asia:

Head to Head – Lebanon VS China:

Since 1975, China has been the most dominant force in basketball on the Asian scene, winning the gold medal 15 times. Moreover, they got the bronze medal 2 times, silver medal once, and only two times failed to make it out of the quarter-finals, finishing 5th and 10th on two occasions.

Lebanon:

The first fixture between Lebanon and China dates back to 1999, when they both met in the 2nd round of the Asian tournament. Lebanon lost 67-107 that day.

The second meeting between the 2 teams was during the 2001 FIBA Asia championship when both teams also met in the 2nd round. China also defeated Lebanon on that day, 87-76. Moreover, in that same tournament, they met again in the final and Lebanon still couldn’t defeat China. Final score was 97-63.

In 2005, the same scenario of 2001 happened, with Lebanon losing to China in the 2nd round (73-87) and in the final (61-77).

During the 2009 edition of FIBA Asia championship, Lebanon lost only by 3 points against China in the 2nd round (68-71), and in the semi-finals 72-68, due to costly mistakes by the referees.

In 2011, China largely defeated Lebanon in the quarter-finals, 68-48, with the Lebanese team not going with a young squad to the tournament.
