01 Feb. 2017 – The 2016 Lebanese Badminton Championship ended with Hoops Beirut grabbing the awards.
128 players were participating in the competition that was taking place at Mont La Salle, all coming from the following clubs: Hoops Beirut, Mont La Salle, Jamhour and Squadra Sportiva.
In the men singles, Jalal Abou Alwan (Hoops) defeated Alfred Francis (Jamhour) 2-0 (21-11 21-14) to claim the title. Third place was shared by Ernest Abboud (Jamhour) & Tony Choueiri (Mont La Salle).
On the other hand, in the women singles, Danie Mortada (Hoops) grabbed the gold medal by beating Rosie Rizk (Jamhour) with a final score of 2-0 (21-14 21-10). Marianne Barouk & Perla Hobeika finished third. Both are from Mont La Salle.
As to the doubles categories, the results came as following:
Men: Jalal Abou Jalwan & Mohamad Mansour (Hoops) defeated Ernest Abbout & Alfred Francis (Jamhour) 2-1 (15-12 14-16 15-13).
Women: Danie & Rim Mortada (Hoops) defeated Perla Hobeika & Marianne Baroud (Mont La Salle) 2-0 (15-10 16-14).
Mixed: Jalal Abou Jalwan & Danie Mortada (Hoops) defeated Tony Choueiri & Perla Hobeika (Mont La Salle) 2-0 (15-8 15-7).
